The Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) provides public and regional transportation in the Charlotte Metro area. It’s the largest system between Atlanta, GA and Washington, DC.

CATS maintains the Charlotte Transportation Center in Uptown, the main connecting hub for rail and bus.
CATS maintains three other transportation hubs:
Eastland Community Transit Center, located at the Eastland Mall along Central Avenue.
SouthPark Community Transit Center, located in the bottom parking deck of SouthPark Mall between Belk and Dillards.
Rosa Parks Place Community Transit Center, located near Beatties Ford Road and Rosa Parks Place.
CATS operates the Special Transportation Service (STS) for individuals with disabilities. STS service provides door-to-door transit services in the Charlotte area. STS is equipped and designed to accommodate wheelchairs and scooters to serve the special needs of customers.
Charlotte’s light-rail transit system, The LYNX Blue Line, extends from 7th Street in Center City Charlotte down South Boulevard ending at I-485. The leg extending service to UNC Charlotte is currently in the funding stage.
